Unlocking Christian Art

The Bode-Museum and the Gemäldegalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin have partnered with the Visual Commentary on Scripture at King’s College London to explore Christian art in Berlin. Through self-guided tours and interfaith discussions, they aim to create accessible and engaging interpretations of their rich collections for 21st century audiences.

Lee Ufan meets Rembrandt

The Gemäldegalerie in collaboration with Hamburger Bahnhof is showcasing an intervention by artist Lee Ufan in the Rembrandt room. Titled “Relatum – The Position 1,” the sculpture juxtaposes steel and stone materials, creating a dialogue with the surrounding works by Rembrandt and his students.

Frans Hals: Master of the Moment Exhibition

Frans Hals, the great master of Dutch portraiture, is being honored with the first comprehensive survey exhibition in more than 30 years at Berlin’s Gemäldegalerie. Alongside Rembrandt and Vermeer, Hals is considered one of the most outstanding Dutch painters of the 17th century. The exhibition showcases around 50 of his most important works from various collections in Europe, the USA, and Canada.

Naama Tsabar

Naama Tsabar’s exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof showcases her boundary-pushing art that combines sculpture, music, performance, and architecture. The immersive installation invites audience participation, with interactive wall and floor pieces that can be played as instruments.

Frans Hals | Master of the Moment

The “Frans Hals: Master of the Moment” exhibition at the Berlin Gemäldegalerie celebrates one of the greatest portrait painters of all time, Frans Hals. Renowned alongside artists like Rembrandt and Vermeer, Hals is a pivotal figure in Dutch 17th-century painting. His unconventional, expressive portraits, including depictions of societal outsiders, significantly influenced the development of modern painting. This comprehensive monographic exhibition, in collaboration with the National Gallery, London, and the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, showcases around 70 works, highlighting Hals’s vital role as a precursor to modern art and his lasting impact on European painting
