Ingredients

  • 4 slices of dense, dark rye bread
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 thin slices of smoked salmon or cured herring
  • 1 cup of fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 boiled eggs, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons of crème fraîche or sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons of capers
  • 4 radishes, thinly sliced
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instruction:

  1. Start by laying out the slices of rye bread on a clean surface.
  2. Generously spread each slice with softened butter.
  3. Place two slices of smoked salmon or cured herring on each slice of bread.
  4. Layer with thinly sliced red onion.
  5. Arrange the boiled egg slices over the onions.
  6. Spoon a dollop of crème fraîche or sour cream onto each sandwich.
  7. Sprinkle with capers and fresh dill.
  8. Garnish with radish slices and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
