Ingredients

  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 500 g (1.1 lbs) kale, washed, destemmed, and finely chopped
  • 1 Rookworst (smoked sausage)
  • 100 ml (approx. 1/2 cup) milk
  • 50 g (approx. 3.5 tablespoons) butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Nutmeg, optional
  • 1 tablespoon mustard, optional

Instruction:

  • Potato and Kale Mastery: Boil the potatoes in a large pot of salted water for about 15-20 minutes, until soft. Add the kale for the last 10 minutes of cooking.
  • Rookworst Preparation: In a separate pot, prepare the Rookworst according to the instructions on the packaging.
  • Stamppot Perfection: Drain the water and mash the potatoes and kale together using a potato masher. Add the butter and milk and stir everything into a smooth consistency. Season with salt, pepper, and optionally nutmeg.
  • Fine Mustard Touch: If desired, you can stir in a tablespoon of mustard to give the Stamppot an extra layer of flavor.
  • Artful Serving: Serve the Stamppot on a plate and place the Rookworst on top or slice it and mix it into the Stamppot.
